Nokia is set to sell 500 wireless patents to a U.S firm in attempts to boost falling money reserves.

The mobile phone giants have found themselves struggling in the face of Samsung and Apple who are dominating the smartphone market.

The patent deal will net the company $22 million and should the patents yield a higher revenue than the price paid Nokia will receive 35% of further income.
