Bring your talents to our Chemistry/Biotechnology team.

Our London office is ready to welcome a new attorney. Whether you’re fully qualified or approaching finals, it’s an opportunity to work with an inspiring range of clients in innovative sectors as part of our Chemistry/Biotechnology team.

These are rapidly evolving fields dealing in cutting-edge ideas. So if you’ve got chemistry, pharmaceuticals or biotech knowledge, it will stand you in excellent stead. While you’ll be a new recruit, you’ll also quickly become involved in building our firm’s future – helping to shape our client portfolio and seek out new business opportunities.

What you’ll be doing

Although there’s no such thing as a ‘typical day’ as an Abel & Imray attorney, your position will involve:

  • Dealing directly with clientsdaily – whether it’s a laboratory-based chemist or the CEO of a global corporation. That means you’ll swiftly get to grips with research and development currently making waves in the life sciences area. You’ll speak your clients’ language – no matter how technical. And you’ll build enduring partnerships along the way.
  • Drafting and prosecuting successful patent applications will make up a huge part of your role, drawing on both your legal expertise and technical knowledge.
  • Working closely with a number of partners. We’re truly collaborative here at Abel & Imray and teamwork involves everyone from new starters to long-established partners.

Put simply, a diverse workload and a mandate to protect some of the work’s most pioneering ideas will keep you on your toes. Plus, we’ll put plenty of opportunities to help direct the future of our firm your way.

Where you’ll work – and what we offer

We’ll expect a lot from you, but will offer a lot in return. As well as day-to-day support, we’ll make sure your working environment is dynamic and inclusive – one where your career can really blossom.

In fact, you’ll be joining our steadily growing firm at an exciting time, after our recent move to our brand new, purpose-built offices in Holborn. You’ll also get to visit our Bath and Cardiff bases as our team works collaboratively across each office.

Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll have a generous holiday entitlement to play with. And you can also choose from a host of other lifestyle benefits, including private healthcare, a pension and season ticket loans.

More about us

Ours is a firm with a prestigious history, but one eye always on the future. From longstanding attorneys to brand new trainees, everyone who works here has a part to play in defining that future – and that will include you. You’ll be joining our steadily growing firm at an exciting time – for example, we’ve just moved our London office to brand new, purpose-built offices in Holborn and have plans to continue to grow each office over the coming years.

From the ideas we protect, to the way we run our business, everything we do is about looking to the future. Right now, we’re proud to partner with many of the world’s ground-breakers in the antibody, small molecule and peptide therapeutics areas as well as specialist chemical manufacturers.  We also work for smaller high-growth companies and some of the world’s leading academic institutions.  At the same time, you’ll be joining a firm with a prestigious history and reputation.

We’re also proud to be an inclusive, equal opportunities employer and members of IP Inclusive. That means treating everyone at Abel & Imray fairly, as well as respecting each employee’s personal goals and ambitions. However yours line up, we’ll champion them.
