We currently have an opportunity for a graduate in the area of chemistry or material science to train as a patent attorney within our renowned Chemical and Materials Group based in London.

Boult Wade Tennant is one of the leading firms of patent attorneys in the UK and our clients work at the very forefront of new technologies. We need trainees who have the ability to grasp new ideas and concepts quickly. No previous knowledge of law or patents is required but, as patent attorneys advise on difficult technical and legal issues, applicants should be personable, confident and able to express themselves clearly both orally and in writing.

Full training and support will be provided to the successful candidate as they work towards the qualifications of Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Training comprises practical experience gained working alongside partners and senior attorneys on client matters and internal and external seminars, tutorials and courses. All trainees attend Queen Mary College “Certificate of Intellectual Property Law” course in London. Boult Wade Tennant offers a competitive trainee salary which rises as individuals progress towards full qualification. Prospects on qualification are excellent.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 340 UCAS points (AAB) at A Level.
  • A minimum of an expected 2.1 degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, pharmacy or a similar discipline. Postgraduate study or qualification in a relevant area (such as applied chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, etc) may also be an advantage.
