Alistair Hindle Associates is a young and dynamic firm of European Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys based in Edinburgh. We’re looking for an outstanding individual to join our fast growing team as a trainee trade mark attorney.

Trade mark attorneys are specialist professionals who provide legal advice on trade marks, and ensure that brand owners successfully protect and defend their rights. It is an interesting, intellectually challenging and varied profession and this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual looking to start their career or change direction. After an initial training period it is expected that the successful candidate will participate in the training courses and obtain the qualifications necessary to become a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney.

For this position, applicants must have a good degree (at least 2:1), probably in a humanities subject, as well as excellent written English and oral communication skills; commercial awareness; a keen attention to detail and good time management skills. The role is demanding and the successful candidate must have great self-motivation and be able to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time. As this position is for a trainee, prior experience of trade marks or law is not required. The successful candidate will be expected to help out with a wide range of legal assistant work at the beginning. The role will also involve work with registered designs and various other aspects of intellectual property law.
