My client, a prestigious firm, is expanding its London team and seeking an Associate with expertise in Patent disputes. This role is part of the firm’s strategic growth in the Tech & Media and Life Sciences sectors. The firm’s IP practice is a comprehensive powerhouse, offering end-to-end services in prosecution, litigation and licensing.

The Practice:

With a robust team of professionals, including solicitors, barristers, patent attorneys and trade mark attorneys, the firm provides unparalleled IP services. It works collaboratively with practice managers and paralegals dedicated to patents and trade marks. The firm’s clients include major players in Technology, Media & Communications, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Automotive, Consumer Products, Energy and Mechanical Engineering. It handles litigation across various forums, including the General Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, IP Enterprise Court and UKIPO, both within the UK and globally.

Role Overview:

This is an opportune moment to join the firm’s growing team. As the successful Associate, you will work within a dynamic group of top-tier associates and partners, focusing primarily on patent disputes. As the ideal candidate, you will bring a background in IP litigation, especially in the fields of technology and life sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage intricate patent litigation cases
  • Oversee UK-based litigation and coordinate international multi-jurisdictional disputes
  • Offer strategic legal counsel and develop litigation strategies tailored to client needs
  • Collaborate seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive IP solutions

Candidate Profile:

  • 2-5 years of PQE in IP litigation, with a specialisation in patents
  • Experience from a reputable firm, particularly in technology and/or life sciences
  • An academic background in electronics, engineering, biology, chemistry or pharmacology is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to manage client relationships directly
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and a proactive approach to responsibilities in a fast-paced legal environment
