I am working with a leading IP firm in London that is seeking a Trainee IP Legal Assistant to join its dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to start and develop your career in the intellectual property field, working closely with talented professionals across multiple practice areas such as Biotechnology, Engineering and Chemistry.
In this role, you will receive extensive training over a period of six to nine months, guided by experienced professionals.
After your training, you will support Fee Earners across the firm, taking on responsibilities such as handling formalities, managing correspondence and liaising with clients and foreign agents. You will also gain experience in preparing and filing patent and trade mark applications while helping to maintain accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with IP management and liaise with clients and foreign agents
- Help file and record assignments and legal documents, and manage signatures and notarisation
- Support Fee Earners by coordinating the filing of applications (PCT, EP, Trade Marks)
- Produce high-quality correspondence and reports for clients and patent/trade mark offices
- Maintain diary and reminder systems for Fee Earners, ensuring deadlines are met
- Assist in maintaining client and case files within the document management system
- Provide support in preparing estimates, managing invoices and coordinating meetings
- Work as part of the team to support fellow members during busy periods or absences
Requirements:
- A minimum of 18 months’ experience in a similar role within a professional services firm
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and document management systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
- Flexibility to work under pressure and meet deadlines
