The Position

 

One candidate with hands-on scientific experience (either at PhD/ post-doc level or as a research scientist in industry) of computational biology and machine learning/AI.

 

Location can be at any of our UK offices nationwide.

 

You will work alongside our team of attorneys and fellow trainees to support our clients in the protection of their IP. The role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities (e.g. drafting patent applications and construct technical arguments to support patent grant); requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work to deadlines.

 

Our life sciences team prides itself on its expertise in a variety of specialist areas including CRISPR, microbiome therapeutics, food tech, cell and gene therapy, agri-tech and femtech.

 

The computational biology trainee role is within our specialist bioinformatics and digital health team which includes attorneys who span the divide between life sciences and electronics. In this group we have biotech attorneys with PhDs and post-doctoral research in AI and computational biology; attorneys with degrees in applied mathematics; and electronics attorneys who have worked in building AI models and have experience prosecuting life science software applications. The group is an exciting, multidisciplinary team to work in.

 

About You

 

You will have a first maths degree with further PhD or other research experience in AI with biology; or alternatively, a first degree in biology with further PhD or other research experience in AI with biology.

 

Beyond your academic credentials, the key skills needed for the role are:
