Potter Clarkson is currently seeking an ambitious qualified European Patent Attorney to join our Biotechnology team. The successful candidate may be based at any of our London, Stockholm or Nottingham offices.
We are one of the largest full-service intellectual property practices in Europe, with 88 patent and trade mark professionals and 10 IP solicitors, who are expertly assisted by over 130 support staff working together in our Nottingham, London, Lund, Copenhagen, Aarhus and Stockholm offices.
We work with a wide range of clients to secure IP protection, which involves regular direct client interaction and providing commercial strategic IP advice. We also specialise in advising private equity investors and performing IP due diligence.

The Role
Based in one of our London, Nottingham or Stockholm offices, you will have an amazing opportunity to work with SMEs working at the cutting edge of life sciences developments, as well as larger up and coming biotechnology therapeutic companies, including filing and patent prosecution, oppositions and litigation support for clients from around the world. Working with experienced IP professionals recognised as world leading IP strategists, you can expect to grow your professional skillset in providing strategic, commercially focussed advice, learning to deliver our expanding range of IP Consultancy products developed for this purpose. You will inevitably spend a great deal of time working with direct clients and collaborating with our team of IP solicitors on both contentious and non-contentious legal matters.

Requirements
Successful candidates must have strong technical and legal skills as a European and/or UK patent attorney and be passionate about their professional and personal development, whilst working within a collaborative team environment. Candidates will also have a keen interest in the growth of our business and the further development of the services offered to our clients.
The successful candidate should also possess;
- Excellent English language skills and able to communicate both clearly and concisely;
- A demonstrable ability to learn quickly;
- Confidence in drafting and prosecuting complex biotechnology and life sciences patent applications;
- Confidence in oral presentations;
- Diligence, motivation and a client-orientated, commercially focussed attitude; and,
- One to five years post-qualification experience.
