Looking for some real exposure to the world of Intellectual Property?
Dehns is one of the leading private practice patent and trade mark attorney firms in Europe, with a rich history spanning nearly 100 years.
We are currently looking for talented, ambitious individuals for our 2019 Summer Placement Scheme. Successful candidates will have a genuine interest in wanting to work for us.
What are we offering?
The scheme is designed to provide successful candidates with a first-hand opportunity to see what it is like to work as a Patent or Trade Mark Attorney. It is a perfect way to get to know us and to give you a chance to see if we are the right firm for you. Over the course of the two weeks you are with us, you can expect:
- to meet some of the talented people who make us the firm we are;
- exposure to the kind of work you would undertake as a trainee, including real client work from day one;
- to gain an idea of what you can expect from a career with us;
- to gain a broad and comprehensive view of life as a patent or trade mark attorney;
- participation in a group project;
- networking and social events.
Throughout your time with us, you’ll be assigned one of our current trainees who will be on hand to help you settle in and find your way around. As the scheme forms a key part of our recruitment process, your participation and performance will be monitored throughout.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a diverse range of candidates to join us, and we welcome applicants from a breadth of disciplines. The scheme is intended for candidates planning to commence employment in summer/autumn 2020, or earlier.
Academic requirements
Applicants will need to have, or expect to have, a minimum 2.1 result in their undergraduate level degree. For prospective trade mark attorneys there are no specific degree disciplines required; prospective patent attorneys must have a technical degree subject, typically science or engineering.
