We currently have an opportunity for an electronics or electrical engineering graduate to train as a patent attorney with our High Tech Group based in our London or Cambridge office.
The ideal candidate will possess an excellent first degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a related discipline. A PhD is not essential but would be a distinct advantage. Particular experience in telecommunications, at least to a masters level or equivalent industry experience, is essential as we have a growing number of clients in this field.
Boult Wade Tennant is one of the leading firms of patent attorneys in the UK and our clients work at the very forefront of new technologies. We need trainees who have the ability to grasp new ideas and concepts quickly. No previous knowledge of law or patents is required but, as patent attorneys advise on difficult technical and legal issues, applicants should be personable, confident and be able to express themselves clearly both orally and in writing.
Full training and support will be provided to the successful candidate as they work towards the qualifications of Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Training comprises practical experience gained working alongside partners and senior attorneys on client matters and internal and external seminars, tutorials and courses. All trainees attend the Queen Mary College “Certificate of Intellectual Property Law” course in London. Boult Wade Tennant offers a competitive trainee salary which rises as individuals progress towards full qualification. Prospects on qualification are excellent.
